Description

This video is a recording on an online training session delivered on Zoom.

We all know that our culture and experience shape the way in which we see the world. And that this is as true in the classroom as anywhere else.

One of the joys and challenges of teaching across cultures is being at the interface of cultures and worldviews. This can be thrilling and frustrating (both for ourselves and our learners).

In this seminar we will look at some of the ways in which our worldview shapes the way in which we teach and the way in which we learn, and how becoming more aware can enrich our English conversation classes!

Speaker: Jonathan, with his wife Zoe and three children, worked in Cambodia with OMF for several years before returning to the UK in 2018. While there he was involved in rural church planting, English teaching and community outreach in a slum community in Phnom Penh.

Prior to this he worked in international student ministry for a large church in Sheffield and in student ministry with UCCF in Scotland. He studied English at university and completed a PhD in Christian doctrine at Aberdeen University in 2008.

As our Resource and Materials Developer at 2:19 Teach to Reach, Jonathan specialises in providing quality resources for churches to use in their outreach to speakers of other languages.
