In Western contexts we are more familiar and comfortable with categories such as objective guilt and innocence, both in our understanding of salvation and also our cultural interactions with each other.
But the bible also talks a lot about shame and honour, which many cultures feel more acutely. This plenary session explores what the bible teaches about understanding shame and honour in hospitality and mission.
Rev. Wien Fung is a husband and an adoptive parent. He is the co-founder of the British East and South East Asian Christian Collective, a grass-roots platform that seeks to serve and represent East and South East Asian Christians and communities. He is a trustee of the Association of Christian Counsellors, and he also serves as a Mission Mobilisation Manager at London City Mission (LCM), providing strategic input and research on diaspora and youth mission to the least-reached. Prior to LCM, he was the English Pastor at the Chinese Church in London.
